The Promise Ahead: Building the Next Chapter of Urban Promise 901

Urban Promise 901 began with a simple conviction: a young person's circumstances should never determine the limits of his or her future.

We have seen what can happen when young people are surrounded by adults who believe in them, challenge them, expose them to new possibilities, and remain present in their lives. What began as a desire to mentor young people has grown into a broader commitment to strengthen students, families, and communities throughout Memphis.

Already, more than 300 young people have been mentored through our work, more than 1,000 families have been served, and more than 100 volunteers have joined us in making a difference. Through mentoring, academic support, leadership development, career exposure, fatherhood initiatives, programs for young women, and community outreach, Urban Promise 901 is working to help young people see possibilities beyond their present circumstances.

But we believe this is only the beginning.

Over the next several years, our vision is to expand the number of students and families we serve, deepen our partnerships with schools and community organizations, create additional opportunities for career and college exposure, strengthen our mentoring pipeline, and build the organizational capacity necessary to serve Memphis for generations.

We envision an Urban Promise 901 where every young person we serve has caring adults in their corner, a plan for their future, exposure to meaningful educational and career opportunities, and a community committed to helping them succeed.

Our goal isn't simply to create more programs. We want to create pathways—pathways from potential to opportunity, from adversity to achievement, and from being served to becoming leaders who return to serve others.

We are grateful for every student, parent, volunteer, donor, school, business, faith community, nonprofit organization, and community leader who has helped us reach this point.

The next chapter of Urban Promise 901 will require even more people who believe in the promise of Memphis' young people.

We invite you to be part of it.
